Whether you’re sending gifts to overseas relatives or popping a greetings card in the post for a distant friend, check out our Christmas delivery guide and ensure your parcels and envelopes reach their destination in time for December 25th.

Always remember to consider the time that the post is collected from your local postbox or Post Office on the respective dates.

Shipping within the UK

All 2nd Class letters and parcels should be shipped by Thursday December 18th, while 1st Class services should not be used any later than Saturday December 20th.

Your last chance to send a parcel or letter with Royal Mail in time for Christmas is Tuesday December 23rd, using the Special Delivery Guaranteed service.

Shipping overseas?

With International shipping services from Royal Mail, you can deliver:

  • Letters not exceeding 24 x 16.5 x 0.5cm or 100g.
  • Parcels with a combined height, width and depth not exceeding 90cm, and no single side over 60cm. Maximum weight of 2kg, or 5kg for printed papers.
  • Tubes/rolls no longer than 90cm, where 2x diameter and length combined does not exceed 104cm. Maximum weight of 2kg, or 5kg for printed papers.

HM Forces Mail services

If you’re sending a package or letter to someone stationed overseas in the armed forces, the British Forces Post Office┬« offers discounted rates with HM Forces Mail services.

You can deliver:

  • Letters up to 24 x 16.5 x 0.5 cm and 100g.
  • Large Letters up to 35.3 x 25 x 2.5cm and 750g.
  • Small Parcels up to 45 x 35 x 16cm and 2kg.
  • Medium Parcels with a maximum length of 105cm, maximum combined length and width of 200cm. Maximum weight is 2kg when you are shipping from a BFPO address. You must use Parcelforce if sending from a non-BFPO address. Maximum weight is 30kg or 11kg if you are shipping to BFPO numbers 200-499.

Ship to operational BFPOs by Friday November 28th, and static BFPOs by Friday December 12th.

Don’t forget to check the relevant postage rules and purchase mailing supplies in time for the last posting date!
